New Russian Missile Fired at Ukraine Carried Warheads Without Explosives, Sources Say

A new ballistic missile fired by Russia at the Ukrainian city of Dnipro last week carried multiple warheads but no explosives, and caused limited damage, two senior Ukrainian government sources said.

-snip-

One of the sources said the missile was carrying dummy warheads and described the damage caused as "quite small".

The second source said: "In this case, (the missile) was without explosives...There were no types of explosions like we expected. There was something, but it was not huge."

-snip-

U.S. officials have said Russia probably possesses only a handful of these missiles, which Western experts say appears to have been derived from the RS-26 intermediate-range ballistic missile.

Leaving out the explosives in a "reentry vehicle" - the heat-shielded part of the missile that carries the warhead - leaves room for instrumentation, which countries testing missile designs can use to measure performance, experts say.

It is not publicly known whether the Russian warheads carried such gear.

The RS-26 has a reported range of more than 5,000 km (3100 miles) although the missile that struck Ukraine from the Russian region of Astrakhan region flew only about 700 km.

The Russians probably wanted to check to make sure it works. It would be pretty embarrassing to have it loaded with powerful explosives and have it come down on a Russian town.

At least it didn’t blow up inside the launch silo like the SATAN-2.

The funny thought is that no one told the techs to actually load a warhead. In the Russian military you don’t question…you just do.

Most of the world is willfully choosing to not grasp what Russia has demonstrated. They have Rods from God and we don’t.

Did that turn you on, Marcus?

Does nuclear war arouse you?

So comforting. This comfort comes from the well known consensus that Russians do not know how to make rockets and nuclear bombs, it imports all of its food, has no natural resources, no energy supplies, no industrial base, no engineers and are well known for their law abiding and docile nature......

Americans are the most gaslit population in the world.

What Ruble collapse doink?

Why do you think we don’t have Rods from God?

What Vlad shot up into the air, those are not rods from God. aka kinetic bombardment.

What fun to be able to test your missiles over a live area. We should do the same over Yemen.

“The Russians probably wanted to check to make sure it works. It would be pretty embarrassing to have it loaded with powerful explosives and have it come down on a Russian town.”

They wanted to see how effective NATO air defenses are against this weapon. They got their answer - one missile with 36 sub-munitions will be sufficient to take out 36 targets, simultaneously.

This is likely due to the West spending all their money to modify the bathrooms and showers on Trident subs to accommodate women and trannies, rather than on developing air defense capabilities.

When initially watching the video I thought dummy warheads to only showcase the Russian new weapon. What we were seeing was the impact as the warheads penetrated deep underground where the kinetic energy was released. These hypersonics impact at MACH 10-20+! These warheads do not need explosives.

“The high speed of the Avangard likely gives it far better target-penetration characteristics than subsonic cruise-missiles. The Avangard weighs about 2,000 kg and travels at Mach 20–27, giving it the equivalent of 21 tons of TNT in kinetic energy alone, excluding any explosive warhead.“

I found this on Twitter:

“I’ve done the math on the kinetic energy of the submunitions (using estimates for mass), and I’ve studied up on what’s publicly known about these weapons so far. My conclusion? NATO is done. The west has no idea what just hit them. Russia’s Oreshnik weapon system is checkmate for NATO and the USA. All U.S. aircraft carriers can be destroyed in minutes. All U.S. military bases, all underground bunkers, all ICBM launch sites, naval shipyards, etc., can be destroyed with NON-NUCLEAR kinetic energy via the Oreshnik. There are no active treaties (that I’m aware of) prohibiting this weapon system, and it doesn’t destroy surrounding infrastructure or masses of civilians. It is a devastating, unstoppable surgical strike weapon that basically drops metal lightning out of the sky like Thor’s Hammer or the comets of God. Nobody has any defense against it, and the range of these weapons, once mounted on intercontinental boosters, is global. The west must now either back off or go nuclear. They will probably choose to go nuclear out of desperation, be warned. Russia has just changed the course of warfare and achieved global dominance. NOBODY in the western press even has a clue. They are too stupid, too woke or too arrogant to realize what just happened. This is like playing chess with Putin and thinkin you might be competitive, then suddenly Putin’s queen unleashes a flamethrower across the chess board and roasts all your pieces, setting them on fire. You thought you were playing “chess” but Putin was playing a different game called “flamethrower.” It’s that big of a deal.”
