New Steam co-op game has you burying a body that keeps trying to escape

A newly announced Steam game is putting players in the middle of a mob cover-up, tasking them with hauling a body bag to the top of a skyscraper to bury it.

A co-op game in the same vein as Peak and Dear Passengers, Shady Job has up to four players take on the role of construction workers hired by the mafia to dispose of a body by burying it in concrete.

To make ascending a construction site with an occupied body bag just that little bit tougher, the ‘corpse’ inside hasn’t quite shuffled off the mortal coil.

The body fights back

According to Shady Job’s Steam page, players must build makeshift bridges and pathways across unfinished skyscrapers while carrying the increasingly aggressive body bag to the roof.

The body isn’t simply cargo, either. It can struggle free, damage structures, knock players from ledges and become more hostile the rougher it’s handled.

Along the way, players will need to navigate cranes, moving platforms, environmental hazards and collapsing structures while using tools like a plunger gun to climb buildings, rescue teammates and keep the bag under control.

Destructible environments also allow players to smash through walls and windows as they search for a route to the top.

Shady Job currently doesn’t have a release date, but playtests are planned for July 24-25. While sign-ups currently appear to be unavailable to ensure the studio can “manage the test,” Gaze in Games says this measure should only be temporary.

“Because of the number of requests for now, we’re thinking about closing playtest sign-ups for now (but not forever). Managing such a number of participants is going to be a big challenge for our team, and we want to make sure we can run the playtest smoothly,” the developer said in a blog post.
