Greg Daniels and Michael Koman’s untitled upcoming Peacock series set in the same universe as “The Office” has set its guest cast.
Joining the series as guest stars are Tracy Letts (“August: Osage County,” “Saturday Night”), Molly Ephraim (“Last Man Standing,” “A League of Their Own”), Mo Welch (“Krapopolis,” “Dad Jokes”), Allan Havey (“Billions,” “Loot”), Duane Shepard Sr. (“Batman: Arkham Asylum,” “Loot”), Nate Jackson (“Young Rock,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm”) and Nancy Lenehan (“Veep,” “My Name Is Earl”). Character details are yet to be announced.
Welch is also a writer on the series.
The series has been billed as not being a reboot or spinoff of “The Office”; rather, it has an all-new cast and maintains the original’s mockumentary style. The official logline reads, “The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.”
Previously announced cast members include Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key and Eric Rahill.
Greg Daniels, who developed the American version of “The Office” based on the British series of the same name, serves as co-creator of the new series along with Michael Koman, who is best known for co-creating “Nathan For You.” They executive produe alongside Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, who created the original British series, as well as Howard Klein, Ben Silverman and Banijay Americas. Universal Television is the studio.
