CV NEWS FEED // New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, shamed defenders of the Biden administration’s handling of the humanitarian crisis at the border during a press conference this week, decrying the fact that administration officials have lost track of “500,000 children” who for all the public knows may now be victims of sex trafficking.

“We have 500,000 children who had sponsors in this country that we can’t find,” Adams said. “We can’t find them. We don’t know if they’re doing child labor. We don’t know if they’re doing sex crimes, or we don’t know if they’re being exploited.”

“Five hundred thousand children. We don’t know where they are right now in this country,” he repeated.

Adams went on to denounce “the level of hypocrisy” on the part of “everyone that states they want to protect everyone but innocent individuals who are victims of crimes and children.”

“I want to support children, and innocent people that are victims of crime,” he said. “And those who don’t understand that – it’s not up to me to try to convince them. I know what my job is, my goal is….”

“Safety means everything to me,” he concluded, before repeating the shocking number he’d cited at the beginning of his comment: “Five hundred thousand children. We don’t know where they are right now in this country.”

Adams’ comments this week come shortly after CatholicVote reported he had “said he is willing to work with the incoming Trump administration to tackle the border crisis, inviting fellow Democrats to ‘cancel’ him if they objected, and reminding them that leading Democratic figures like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton openly supported deporting criminal aliens until very recently.”

As CatholicVote has also noted, “While running for the Democratic nomination for president in 2008, then-Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, emphatically declared that she believed there was a need to apply ‘tough conditions’ to illegal migration.”

If migrants have “committed a crime, deport them,” said Clinton, who would mount another failed run as the party’s presidential nominee eight years later.

“No questions asked, they’re gone,” she added.

President Barack Obama in a 2014 speech addressing immigration made a similar comment. “If you’re a criminal,” he said bluntly, “you’ll be deported. If you plan to enter the U.S. illegally, your chances of getting caught and sent back just went up.”
