Minnesota Wild forward Mats Zuccarello suffered a ruptured testicle after being struck in his private parts earlier this month, it has been revealed.
During Minnesota's 3-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens last week, Zuccarello was left in agony on the ice when a wrist shot from an opposition defenseman hit him in a sensitive area.
Eight days on the full details of his gruesome injury have been revealed, with the 37-year-old forced to undergo surgery after rupturing a testicle.
During an appearance on the 93X Half-Assed Morning Show, teammate Marcus Foligno recalled Zuccarello's jock strap being left with a 'massive dent in it' after taking the shot to his lower section.
'We thought he was gonna lose one nut, but it actually survived and he's got them both still,' Foligno said.
'Poor guy got hit where the sun don't shine and it ruptured his testicle. He can't even lift anything.'

'It was hilarious,' he added about the dented nut cup. 'It's funny after, now that he's OK.'
Zuccarello is expected to spend three to four weeks on the sidelines as he recovers from the op on his ruptured testicle.
The Norwegian player is currently in his 16th season in the NHL and his sixth with Minnesota.
He joined the Wild back in 2019 after previous stints with the New York Rangers, where he played nine seasons, and the Dallas Stars.
This year Zuccarello has racked up six goals and eight assists in 16 appearances for Minnesota, who are second in the Central Division and fourth in the league with 27 points from 18 games.
