It finally happened. The Nintendo Direct on April 2 gave Hollow Knight: Silksong fans a release window. No, you’re not dreaming. The long-awaited sequel is actually coming and soon.
Silksong fans have suffered. Announced in 2019, the game has been delayed so much it became a running joke. Microsoft once teased a release within 12 months, then silence. Team Cherry said it “gotten quite big.” No kidding. The wait became a meme, flooding gaming chats with cries of “SKONG.”
Even during the Nintendo Direct, the Dexerto newsroom joked about a Silksong release date announcement as the screen froze on Survival Kids, a 3D cozy game, for about 5 minutes.
Cyberpunk 2077 and Final Fantasy VII Remake got full reveals while we watched 3D avatars fishing. We dared to dream, “What if they announce Silksong like this?” And dare I say – we manifested it.

Silksong release window confirmed
Nintendo finally confirmed it: Silksong is coming in 2025.
There’s still no specific date, no month, no season. Just a vague promise. At this point, fans will take what they can get.
The Direct didn’t go smoothly. It featured over an hour of hardware updates, game ports, and major reveals, including Split Fiction and Elden Ring ports, as well as a Zelda game starring Princess Zelda herself. However, all of these struggled to come into view due to persistent still screens and audio delays.
Yet, through all that, the best news stood out: Silksong is real, and it’s coming.
Hollow Knight set a high bar, and Silksong aims even higher. Hornet’s movement is faster, her combat more dynamic. Pharloom, the new kingdom, is vertical, twisting, and packed with over 165 enemies.
Team Cherry takes their time, but they deliver. If Silksong lives up to its promise, the wait might just be worth it. Finally, a meme with a happy ending.
