British holidaymakers in Benidorm have been spotted topping up their tans on the beach and downing pints in the sun, blissfully ignorant of Labour's massive tax raid in its latest budget that will see taxes rise by an eye-watering £40billion.
As large parts of Spain including Costa del Sol and Valencia further south continued to suffer bad weather today, it was shorts and T-shirts, if not swimwear, for Benidorm's Brit army.
They merrily lounged in the sun as temperatures peaked at midday with not a cloud to be seen in the sky.
Benidorm's terraces lined with bars offering cheap Happy Hour vodka and Red Bull mixes were packed and some clients had their tops off and were showing off their tattoos.
The contrast couldn't be greater with the sombre scene just 85 miles north in places like the town of Paiporta near Valencia, where authorities have said half the 70 people known so far to have lost their lives came from.
One Brit who asked not to be named said: 'I found out from a friend back home about what had happened in Valencia when he rang to check me and the family were okay.
'I couldn't believe it when he told me loads of people had been killed and the numbers were rising.
'It's only an hour and a half's drive up the motorway from here. It's incredible the difference.
'My heart goes out to the people who have lost loved ones in and around Valencia and elsewhere where there've been deaths.'
