CV NEWS FEED // The annual Catholic Ministries Appeal (CMA) in the Diocese of Rochester, New York, is on track to exceed its campaign goal of roughly $6.9 million to help fund diocesan services and ministries.

The Catholic Courier reported that as of the end of October, the 2024-2024 CMA has raised $2.7 million, or 39.72% of its goal. The campaign runs until May 31, 2025.

The amount already raised is similar to the October 2023 numbers from that year’s campaign, when the CMA exceeded its $6.725 million goal by several thousand dollars. Last year’s campaign saw 67 of 89 parishes across the diocese achieve their individual campaign goals. That success, coupled with inflation, prompted the diocese to raise its overall 2024-2025 CMA goal by 3%, the first increase since 2018.

According to the Catholic Courier, the donations “are used to fund vital programs, services and ministries across the diocese” and “support more than one-half of the diocesan budget.” This year’s campaign theme is “Extending Christ’s Mission.”

Funds from the CMA support several diocesan ministries and activities, which include providing aid to struggling families, faith formation programs, Catholic Charities, parish support services, and more.

Diocesan CMA Director Colleen Brade told the Catholic Courier that the funds are never used to settle clergy sexual abuse lawsuits, and added that supporting the CMA is an important way for parishioners to support the Church.

She added, “It ensures that the parishes and the church will not only survive but thrive.”
