An influencer showed off the outfit she chose this weekend to go out to dinner in New York City, and it ended up being quite polarizing.
Halley Kate, who posts lifestyle and fashion content on social media, got in front of the camera in her latest TikTok video wearing a black and white dress.
Kate, who has 1.4 million followers on TikTok, complemented the ensemble with a furry, waist-high jacket, a poofy white scarf, and a Chanel bag.
'This jacket is simply not warm enough for the 28 degrees that it is in New York City,' she said. 'But it's for the vibes, like I said, a hoe never gets cold. We all know this by now.'
Kate apologized for her hair as well, saying she looked like Cindy Lou Who from The Grinch with her last-minute towering bun.
But the influencer's outfit wasn't appreciated by everyone - with some slamming her for the mismatched, over-the-top 'polyester' outfit.
'What in the heck. She looks like she murdered some muppets for their pelts,' one person wrote, while another branded her a 'polyester princess.'
Another wrote that Kate was 'starting to look like Cruella DeVille from the original 101 Dalmatians.'
Fans were left divided by Halley Kate's black and white outfit
Other commenters compared her to Pepe Le Pew, the cartoon skunk from Looney Tunes.
At least two people thought she resembled Jennifer Coolidge, who is famous for her roles in the 2001 cult classic 'Legally Blonde' and the 2021 TV series 'The White Lotus'.
Kate mentioned that the dress was from Show Me Your Mumu, a women's clothing site that sells everything from dresses to sweaters to wedding attire.
This seemingly didn't go over well with certain commenters, some of whom thought her outfit looked 'cheap' or 'tacky.'
'It makes me so angry when I see rich people wearing cheap clothes, like you can buy anything you want and this is what you pick??' one person wrote.
Others joked that her clothing choices were flammable, with one saying she should stay away from candles.
Some fans on Kate's TikTok thought her outfit was great - giving her glittering reviews for the ensemble, which she wore for a night out in the Big Apple.
Many even thought her so-called Cindy Lou Who-do was quite becoming of her, with one asking for a hair tutorial.
'I LOVE the hair,' one person wrote. 'Pretty as always,' another fan hyped her up.
Kate made headlines in May, when she announced she bought a luxurious home in The Hamptons.
Even though Kate had been working on The Hamptons home deal since February, she revealed in another video that she would keep her NYC apartment, rumored to cost $7,000-a-month.
Kate's property purchase came just two months after she got punched in the face while walking near West 16th and 7th Avenue in Manhattan.
'You guys, I was literally just walking, and a man came up and punched me in the face,' Kate said in her video on the random attack. 'Oh my God, it hurts so bad. I can't even talk. Literally, I fell to the ground and now this giant goose egg is forming.'
