The re-election of Donald Trump represents the defeat of the global elite and a triumph for democracy.
Wins in both the House and Senate will allow Trump to reassert western values which have so far, for so long, not been properly put forward. They've been undermined by the global elite.
The Democrats showed utter contempt for voters. It began by insulting their intelligence, by selecting Joe Biden as the nominee.
Lying for months about his ability to serve a second term. It was continued by undemocratically replacing him with Kamala Harris.

This is typical behaviour of the global elite, symptomatic of the ‘we know best’ mentality. Their contempt for voters is embodied by the use of the term ‘populist’ as an insult.
It's essential to be popular to win votes. Their contempt was exposed in both elections that Trump won, by Clinton's basket of deplorables, and by Biden's reference to garbage. Both of those gave away what they really felt about voters.
But Donald Trump is more than who he defeated. His campaign focused around two key issues: the economy and security.
While Europe bankrupts itself trying to achieve Net Zero, having little to no effect on the climate, Trump recognises the importance of energy independence, the need for cheap energy, which has helped fuel the growth of the US economy beyond what is imaginable in Europe.
He also understands the need to cut taxes and put businesses at the front of his strategy for improving living standards. How unlike Red Rachel.
Look no further than his relationship with Elon Musk, an admirable salesman and a free speech absolutist. If Musk is able to cut, which he's talking about, $2trillion from the US budget in a drive for efficiency, he will prove to the world that there is a route back to intergenerational prosperity.
The two are fundamentally disruptors. And that's exactly what the world needs, a bit of disruption; the cosy consensus has failed. Governments do too much, do it badly and tax too much to pay for it.
On security, Trump understands what needs to be done. In the Biden administration and the auspices of Kamala Harris, protecting the southern border simply wasn't a priority, which has led to untold numbers of criminals entering the United States.
But equally importantly, it's Trump's foreign policy that the world needs more than ever. It wasn't the surrender of the Afghan people to the Taliban under Trump, nor was it the invasion of Ukraine, nor was it the attack on Israel that we saw last year, leading to a year long regional conflict. No, that was under sleepy Joe's leadership.
On a fundamental level, Trump will re-legitimise the nation state against an internationalist approach. Democratic legitimacy depends on the nation state.
As we've discussed before, it's the Westphalian settlement that has worked well since 1648. The elite in their ivory towers who think they know what's best for Americans, or indeed for Britons, think they know what's best for the world, push their internationalist agenda.
Their reign is over. On Guy Fawkes day, the 5th November 2024, Donald Trump has succeeded in blowing up the liberal elite. This is an exciting day not just for the US or the UK but for the world.
