CV NEWS FEED // The Archdiocese of Los Angeles has changed the venue and canceled the walk portion of OneLife LA as a result of the devastating Los Angeles fires and the continuing dangers of poor air quality.

A press release from the archdiocese states that the Jan. 18 event will now take place at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. It will begin with local organizations offering service opportunities at 1 p.m., speakers and performers at 2 p.m., and end with Archbishop José H. Gomez celebrating the Requiem Mass for the Unborn at 5 p.m.

The press release explains that the walk for life was canceled due to poor air quality and to relieve the need for local law enforcement or safety personnel who would have to attend.

“It is our hope to build upon the spirit of OneLife LA as a movement of love and mercy in our city especially during these times that have been devastating for so many families in our communities,” said Michael P. Donaldson, senior director of the Office of Life, Justice & Peace for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

Donaldson added, “We will be in a different space and things will look a little different but our commitment to building a culture of life and accompanying the most vulnerable remains and extends to our brothers and sisters who are suffering from the destruction of the wildfires.”
