PARIS — At long last, the Palestinian people finally have a land to truly call their own.
After decades of war, strife, and refusing other offers for sovereign territory, a new nation for Palestinians was at last established within the country formerly known as "France."
"What a remarkable moment for the Palestinian people, seeing their flag raised over the Arc de Triomphe, knowing this land belongs to them," said Middle East policy expert Gerard Rousseau. "They may have traded the Jordan River for the Seine, but the Palestinians finally have a homeland. It has been so gracious how quickly the old occupants of this land have made way for the new."
The Palestinian people have celebrated their new home with bonfires throughout the cities and countryside. Though the governmental power had already been turned over to the Palestinians, experts said it will take months to fully transition all civic duties over to the new regime. According to sources, the former inhabitants of "France" will be offered the option to leave the country, convert to Islam, or have their heads cut off. Most of the populace have thus far elected to stay, stating that they felt "pretty sure" no one was actually serious about the whole beheading thing.
At publishing time, the Palestinians had clarified that having their own land would not change their goal of wiping Israel off the face of the Earth.
