Ghost hunting influencer Jiang Xiaorou has died aged 24.
The social media star, who focused on paranormal activities, had built up a following of more than 1.5 million followers on Douyin – the Chinese version of TikTok.
On July 15, she was involved in a horror car accident involving a rideshare taken from Guangxi to Guangzhou in China, according to HK01.
Xiaorou reportedly suffered severe brain injuries, organ damage and hemorrhagic shock.
She was admitted to intensive care but passed away this week on Monday, August 10 after a month on a ventilator.
An investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
The content creator, whose real name was Li Moumou, was thrust into the spotlight last year after infamously destroying a Buddhist statue to test a 'curse.'
In August 2025, she filmed herself smashing a clay idol of Guanyin – the goddess of mercy and compassion – as part of an anti-superstition stunt.

In the clip, she told her followers: 'Let's see how long I can live.'
But it sparked a firestorm online with many claiming Xiaorou had shown extreme disrespect towards the religion.
Xiaorou's final Douyin post was uploaded on July 9, according to The Epoch Times.
In the clip, she rang a series of telephone numbers submitted by followers who claimed they had experienced frightening or paranormal contact.
One number was said to have belonged to a woman who had previously died in a car crash. Xiaorou reportedly heard only her own voice echoing after making the call.
Xiaorou's family confirmed her passing in a message shared to her Douyin account on Tuesday.
'Here, her family and friends earnestly request everyone: respect the facts, refrain from spreading unverified information, do not forward content involving privacy, and please stop making excessive speculations about her and her family,' the message said, per HK01.
'For those who wish to express their condolences, please let your concern be expressed as a quiet blessing, so that she may remain dignified and respectable in everyone's memory.'

Xiaorou had become renowned for her paranormal investigations.
She regularly attempted ghost hunts at haunted houses and abandoned ruins.
The content creator also often attempted to summon spirits in an attempt to 'completely break the superstitious' beliefs of her country.
