Former Hollyoaks and Celebrity Love Island star Paul Danan, who died earlier this week, reportedly slipped and fell at a luxury apartment near Bristol.

The actor was found at a property in Brislington on Wednesday evening, where paramedics were called to the scene. Now, the soap star's friends are raising funds for his young son.

The Grade II listed building, part of a former Georgian asylum, features a swimming pool, gym and tennis court set within 10 acres of grounds.

The tragic news was announced by the 46-year-old's management on Thursday, who described him as a "beacon of light" known for his "television presence, exceptional talent, and unwavering kindness".

His apparent cause of death was reported by MailOnline on Saturday, and GB News has contacted Danan's representation for a comment.

Danan leaves behind his nine-year-old son DeNiro, with friends of the late actor having set up a GoFundMe page to support the young boy, aiming to raise £10,000 to "make his son's journey a little bit easier".

The fundraiser has currently reached £3,500, with more than 100 supporters contributing to the cause.

Several of Danan's former Hollyoaks co-stars have made donations, including Ali Bastian who contributed £100.

A source told The Sun that DeNiro was Danan's "proudest achievement", adding: "While he didn't see him every day because he co-parented him with his ex, Paul always looked forward to his weekends spent on dad duty."

The GoFundMe page paid tribute to Danan's vibrant personality, stating: "There was NO ONE like Pauly. His excitement and vitality for life were magnetic. He was warm, kind, funny - actually hilarious, vulnerable, self-deprecating and captivating."

Organisers described him as the "most 'extra' and unique person you could ever meet."

The actor had previously shared insights into his relationship with DeNiro on social media, writing in 2022: "My life, my world, my everything."

In a birthday message to his son in 2023, Danan wrote: "I love you so so much and want to be with you every day... I love you baby. Always and forever Daddy."

Actress Sadie Frost donated £30 to the fundraiser, writing: "Oh Pauly .. I am so sad .. I loved you very much and so did Raff who always valued your friendship -big kisses forever and rest in peace my love."

Fellow Hollyoaks star Hannah Curtis matched Frost's donation, noting: "Paul was kind to me on set. He made me laugh. Sending love to his friends and family."

The actor had reportedly been hopeful for a TV comeback and was being considered for Celebs Go Dating before his death.

At the time of his passing, Danan is understood to have been living in a 'dry house' in Bristol, where he had been working to overcome his addiction struggles.

Police previously confirmed they attended the property at around 5:20pm on Wednesday, where a man in his 40s was pronounced dead by paramedics.

In a statement, Avon and Somerset Police said: "His family have been notified and our thoughts are with them. They have asked for people to respect their privacy during this incredibly difficult time."

The force confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious and officers are preparing a file for the coroner.
