A man’s PC saved his life by deflecting a bullet away from him while he slept, after his neighbour accidentally discharged a firearm.
In a post that has gone viral on Reddit, ‘angelbabyzz’ explained that he was asleep in the middle of the night when he was suddenly woken up by a loud bang and the feeling of glass landing on his face. Before he had time to figure out what had happened, his crying neighbour arrived, “shaking and terrified that she had hurt someone.”
She claimed that her firearm was “accidentally discharged by her dog,” causing a bullet to be fired through the wall and into the bedroom.
Gaming PC blocks bullet as neighbour accidentally shoots through wall
Thankfully, the OP’s gaming PC was in the way and deflected the bullet away from him while he slept.
“The police said that the PC changed the trajectory of the bullet, and it would have hit me while I was sleeping if the PC hadn’t been there,” reads the post. The post includes photos of the damaged PC, which has a visible bullet hole, and the bullet itself.
Miraculously, “nobody was injured,” and the only casualties were the heroic PC and the three days it took to clean up all of the glass.
As you might expect, other redditors had plenty of questions about what happened to the neighbour and how the incident occurred, and the post was updated with some answers.
He explained that an insurance claim is now underway, but the neighbour has “kindly agreed to replace” the PC even if it isn’t covered. While the OP admitted they have doubts about her explanation, he doesn’t suspect it was intentional.
“While I’m not sure about the dog story, it’s very clear from how she responded at the time that it was an accident,” they added. “She was more messed up about it than I was and could barely speak from crying so hard, and her whole body was shaking, and she just kept apologising over and over.”
Ultimately, there are no hard feelings, as “between the legal charge, her gun being confiscated, the cost of replacing everything, and her constant apologies,” the OP believes the neighbour is “appropriately paying her dues.”
This isn’t the first time that a piece of tech has saved the day, as a man was protected from a dog attack by his exploding phone.
