MELAKA – It was supposed to be a day of high drama.

Both Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and its main Pakatan Harapan (PH) ally, the Democratic Action Party (DAP), concluded crucial national assemblies on Aug 16. The assemblies threatened to not only change the course of his ruling coalition, but the political landscape of Malaysia as a whole.
