People smugglers are trafficking migrants out of Britain into Spain to take advantage of its new asylum amnesty.

Illegal migrants are being moved to Spain via weaker border-exits with Britain and the continent.

Travelling hidden in lorries as they cross the Channel by either sea or rail, the illegal migrants are leaving the UK due to overstaying their visas or working without official permissions, the Telegraph reports.

It is understood people smugglers are charging up to £1,000 for the trip.

The Spanish Government approved plans to give legal status to half a million undocumented migrants earlier this year.

The move would allow tens of thousands of people to officially enter the Spanish workforce.

Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said in April this year that the plan was both "an act of justice" and a necessity for the country.

The relaxed migration policy has already seen migrants flocking to Spain's territories, with around 60,000 people surging to Ceuta on Thursday last week from Morocco.
