Perez Hilton will require surgery and is in a "serious but stable" condition after appearing to self-harm on a TikTok livestream.
In a statement on Saturday night, his family said the blogger's treatment and recovery will be a "long process".
Emergency services were seen outside Hilton's Miami home on Tuesday after the stream was reported to the police.
He could be seen covered in blood after apparently cutting his torso many times with a serrated knife.
His account was suspended minutes later.
In a post to the Perez Hilton website, his family said the 48-year-old remains in hospital.
"Perez's condition remains serious but stable," they said. "He experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days.

The statement also confirmed his communication has been "extremely limited" and has been restricted to his immediate family, medical providers, and "others directly involved in his care".
The blogger "has not communicated with the media or issued any public statements", they added in an apparent bid to cool speculation over his condition.
"As our family remains focused on Perez's treatment and recovery, we also need the space and privacy to care for everyone affected by this situation," they added.

In a statement to media on Tuesday, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed it attended a scene of a man "livestreaming acts of self-harm".
Police did not publicly name Hilton.
Though deputies confirmed the man was alone in the house at the time.
Hours after Hilton was rushed to hospital, his family spoke out, confirming he was "receiving medical care, and our family's focus right now is on his well-being."
The blogger is "able to communicate" as he continues to receive treatment, they said.
