'Petty' woman buys family member vacation for Christmas... then cancels it without telling them

A woman has detailed the 'petty' act that she pulled off after she didn't receive a gift from one of her family members for Christmas. 

The unnamed woman took to Reddit to share her frustration, explaining that she canceled a costly vacation that she had gifted to a 's***tty' family member after they failed to get her a present. 

She explained the situation in a thread titled, Petty Revenge. 

The woman claimed that although she and this family member had their issues in the past, they had turned over a new leaf so she wanted to give them something special for the holidays.

She booked the family member a vacation for Christmas, reserving them a stay at a nearby hotel.

However, when she discovered that the same family member hadn't gifted her anything, she decided to put an end to their peace treaty and canceled the trip. 

And the Reddit user revealed that she waited to cancel it until they were already on their way, and didn't inform her family member of the cancelation.

The woman titled the post: 'Canceling the gifted vacation without telling anybody.' 

'I have a family member who is honestly s**tty. We had our differences, then supposedly made up,' she wrote.

'So this year for Christmas I gifted them a vacation they did really want to make. I printed out the booking reservation and gave it as a gift. 

'However, not only did s**tty family member have nothing for me in return ("I just had so much stuff do too, honestly I totally forgot about you!") they also continued to make passive-aggressive remarks about my home and the food I provided (I hosted).'

The woman then revealed that she took things to the next level by canceling the trip - after they were already en route to the destination. 

She continued: 'So petty me canceled their vacation without telling them after I knew they were on their way to the destination. 

'Yes, there are fees but I don't care. I know they will be too stingy to book anything else and will instead return all the way back home fuming and annoyed, which is a great source of joy for me. Cheers!' 

People on the web flooded the comment section and expressed their shock over the situation. 

Most people applauded the woman and some even suggested she take the prank even further. 

One person said: 'I love this, not only is this petty but 100 percent AWESOME! Next year be sure to ask them in front of everybody how was their trip.'

'Any aftermath?' questioned another user.

Someone else added: 'I'd let them know I did it and why. Life's too short to even have sorry people in your life. If that's how you feel about them, cut them off.'

'The reason was petty, but the revenge was ruthless,' commented a different reader.
