Plane passenger publicly berated by furious mom after refusing to swap seats with her toddler

A plane passenger has been publicly berated by a furious mom after refusing to swap seats with her toddler - but she is the one now considering taking legal action.

Jeniffer Castro, 29, was filmed calmly ignoring the angry mother's request after she boarded the GOL Airlines domestic flight in Brazil in December.

When she boarded the plane, Jeniffer found a toddler sitting in her window seat, and asked him to move, which caused the tot to start crying.

'A guy across the aisle said "Change with him, you sit next to the aisle and he'll have your place,"' she recalled.

'I said "no."' Jeniffer continued. 

After refusing, the boy cried for the rest of the entire 50-minute flight from Rio de Janeiro to Belo Horizonte.

'The mother was very rude,' she recounted. 

According to the publication, the family reportedly had a window seat on another row, but the boy insisted on taking Jeniffer's place.

When she refused, the mother pulled out her phone and started filming Jeniffer.

In the video, the annoyed mom asked her why she didn't want to change seats.

'Why doesn't she want to change seats?' the mom snapped.

'I even asked if she had some kind of syndrome or something,' she taunted. 'If someone has a problem, some disability, we understand.'

She continued: 'I'm recording your face, this is disgusting. It's the 21st century and people have no empathy for children.'

Despite the criticism, Jeniffer didn't respond to the fuming mother and only asked if she was being filmed.

On a recent episode of the Cola Mais Podcast, Jeniffer revealed that she's now considering taking legal action after the video went viral.

The woman also claimed the flight attendants did not step in to help resolve the situation. 

'The flight attendants could have asked me if I need anything, or if I was bothered by the passenger, but they didn't,' she raged. 

'They stayed out of it.'

'Measures are now being taken,' she explained. 'What I went through wasn't easy.'

She was thrilled that when the video was posted online, she had plenty of support from commenters.

Her Instagram followers even jumped to 2.1 million after the incident, and she's now signed several deals, calling herself as a 'first-time influencer.'

'I'm happy about all the support I received, although there were some online haters too,' she reflected.

'I still don't know how to feel about it, I'm still trying to process everything.'

GOL Airlines has been approached for comment.
