A manhunt is underway for a male murder suspect after a woman in her 40s died having been found seriously injured in the street in Plymouth on Wednesday night, Devon and Cornwall Police said.
The force said that officers rushed to the scene at 8.55pm on Wednesday after a person was found “seriously injured” in the street.
The woman was treated in the West Hoe area by paramedics before being taken to Derriford Hospital, where she died.
The victim and suspect are believed to have been known to each other.

Detective Chief Inspector David Pebworth said: “I wish to make the public aware we are looking to locate a man in relation to this incident whose identity is known, and inquiries are ongoing to find him.
“At this time, I would like to reassure the community and further afield in Plymouth that there is no suggestion that there is a wider risk to members of the public.
“There will be a heightened police presence and visibility in the coming days in the area as inquiries are ongoing. We will of course update the public once we have further information.”
Officers have remained at the scene as they search for the male suspect and have warned the public to stay away from the area.
Pebworth earlier said: “We have a large police presence in the area and enquiries are ongoing to locate and arrest the suspect.
“We believe this is an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to the wider public.
“We would ask members of the public to please stay away from the West Hoe area of the city while we continue our investigation.”
