The Pokemon Center in the UK and Germany has been hit with a major data breach after Valve went through the exact same thing just days before, leading to tons of canceled orders.
On August 10, Valve reached out to its fans to warn them that their distributors, CEVA Logistics, had suffered a data breach, affecting Steam hardware across Europe and revealing many fans’ names, addresses, phone numbers, and account email addresses, as well as any purchase details. Luckily, they didn’t include passwords or payments, but it did cause an influx of scam emails and texts regarding the orders.
Well, it appears the Pokemon Center is the latest victim, with the company being subjected to the same CEVA Logistics data breach, causing leaked names, addresses, numbers, order details, and mailing addresses. As such, the company has been forced to take action by cancelling any affected orders.
Pokemon Center cancels tons of orders following data breach
According to plenty of fans on social media, it appears the Pokemon Center is cancelling any order affected by the breach, sending notifications to fans reading, “We are writing to let you know about a cyber incident affecting a Pokemon Center logistic provider that may affect some of your information.”
They went on to add: “Due to this incident, we need to cancel your order. We understand this is disappointing, especially after you’ve taken the time to place an order with us, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience,” before explaining that “the incident is still under active investigation.”
On top of this, in a statement on the Pokemon Center’s UK site, the company explained that “We are currently experiencing delays in processing and shipping orders. Some orders may take longer than usual to be dispatched and delivered. We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience,” so fans should expect delays if their order hasn’t been canceled.
This comes at a pretty frustrating time, given the recent release of the Pokemon 30th anniversary products, and many fans have already revealed the product that got canceled is now out of stock.
