Pokemon’s mystery RGB Mew card all but confirmed after three Whatnot pulls

Pokemon TCG’s mysterious RGB Mew appears all but confirmed after two more copies were pulled during live Whatnot openings, bringing the total number discovered to three.

The unusual card first surfaced on July 25, when Australian seller PokeAus Hits opened an unreleased Pokemon TCG: 30th Celebration booster pack on Whatnot.

As Dexerto reported at the time, the card featured heavily textured blue artwork, an illustrator credit for YOSHIROTTEN and the designation “B/RGB” instead of a conventional collector number.

Its missing anniversary stamp and absence from a leaked checklist led some collectors to argue it was an elaborate custom card placed inside a genuine pack. Even footage of the opening could not establish the pack’s complete chain of custody.

That changed significantly on August 28, when two more copies appeared through different Whatnot accounts.

Multiple live pulls make RGB Mew hoax increasingly unlikely

Pokemon collectibles account Peak Hobby first shared footage from Crazypokebros, showing another blue RGB Mew appearing during a live pack opening.

Several hours later, a third opening attributed to pokehubtcg surfaced. The footage again appears to show a matching blue Mew being revealed from a 30th Celebration pack on Whatnot.

“That’s 3 Blue ones pulled,” Peak Hobby wrote.

For the card to be fake, multiple Whatnot sellers would now need to possess highly detailed matching copies and stage separate pack openings, or unknowingly obtain products that had been altered beforehand. Neither scenario is impossible, but the additional footage makes the original one-off hoax theory considerably more difficult to maintain.

The Pokemon Company has still not officially announced RGB Mew, meaning it cannot be described as formally confirmed. However, three physical copies appearing through different accounts provide the strongest public evidence yet that the card is a genuine secret insert.

The new pulls also cast doubt on the alleged one-in-20,000 pull rate previously reported by Dexerto.

After the third copy surfaced, PokeGrande suggested the actual odds could be closer to one in 500 or one in 1,000. There is currently no public data supporting either estimate, and the total number of early packs opened is unknown, but finding two additional copies within several hours makes one in 20,000 appear less certain.

All three documented live pulls have also produced the blue B/RGB card. Peak Hobby consequently questioned whether a purported red copy circulating online was genuine, or whether blue is the only RGB Mew available in packs.

Pokemon TCG: 30th Celebration officially launches on September 16. The Pokemon Company has already said cards currently circulating were not distributed through authorized sales channels, prompting eBay to remove early listings.

Official confirmation may still have to wait until release, but RGB Mew is now much harder to dismiss as a fake.
