The arrival of Mega Evolutions in Pokemon TCG is reportedly much closer than you think, with the first release dates now set in stone. Here’s the full rundown on what we know so far.
While the likes of Pokemon Go and more recently, Pokemon TCG Pocket have set the gaming world on fire, nothing has stood the test of time quite like the classic, physical card game. Pokemon TCG proper is more popular than ever, and it’s even gearing up for one of its biggest sets in quite some time.
After months of teasers and insider reports, it has since been confirmed Mega Evolutions are indeed on the way to Pokemon TCG. As confirmed during Pokemon Day 2025, these game-changing juggernauts are set to wreak havoc, though little else was revealed at the time.
However, we now have further information thanks to some early reports, and it turns out the debut of Mega Evolutions isn’t as far off as you might think.
Pokemon TCG Mega Evolutions reportedly coming soon
Back on January 9, 2025, it was first reported that Mega Evolutions would be making their way over to Pokemon TCG. At the time, a Japanese trademark listing was uncovered, one that loosely translated to reveal sets with the names Mega Brave and Mega Symphony.
Now, according to a report from PokeBeach, the first Mega-themed sets will arrive first in Japan on August 1, 2025. Mega Brave is set to focus on Lucario while Mega Symphonia on Gardevoir.
Not only that, but following close behind will reportedly be two pre-constructed decks featuring Mega Evolutions as well. Mega Gengar and Mega Diancie will be the two Pokemon in focus for those particular decks.
When will Pokemon TCG Mega Evolution sets release in America?
As usual, the new Pokemon TCG content won’t arrive day and date in the rest of the world. Instead, the Western world typically has to wait a few months before the new sets crossover, and the Mega Evolutions will be no different.
This means TCG players should expect to see Mega Evoltuions printed in the English version of the game in the final quarter of the year. We’ll be sure to keep you posted as a solid release date is announced.
