Comedian Reggie McFadden, best known as a comic on “Def Comedy Jam” and the hit ’90s show “In Living Color,” died at age 57.
McFadden’s sister, author Bernice McFadden, confirmed his death. She told TMZ the U.S. State Department contacted their family Sunday and notified them that Reggie had died in Tanzania, where he had been residing for 18 years.
Bernice said she did not receive any information about when or how her brother died.
Bernice told TMZ that McFadden had been estranged from his family for quite some time, over “family shit.”
The popular comedian was raised in Brooklyn, New York. His career took off after he became a comedian on HBO’s hit show, “Def Comedy Jam.” Before long, McFadden moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting roles and appeared in hit shows “Martin,” “Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper,” “Coach,” and “Moesha.”

His many credits also include the 1998 sitcom, “Getting Personal,” and a role opposite Larry David in a 2001 episode of “Curb Your Enthusiasm. His film credits include “Jacob’s Ladder,” “Little Nicky,” and “The Inkwell.”
