A beloved Texas news anchor has been suspended after reports surfaced that she received free tickets to a World Cup match and a Bruno Mars concert.
KPRC-TV anchor Daniella Guzman was given three complimentary tickets to the June 17 game between Portugal and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and four tickets to a Bruno Mars concert, according to records obtained by the Texas Voice.
After the allegations surfaced, KPRC-TV announced that Guzman had been suspended pending the result of a company investigation.
'We take matters regarding potential conflicts of interest very seriously,' KPRC said in a statement, adding, 'You have our assurances that this issue will be investigated thoroughly and fairly.'
Guzman had previously posted a video of herself sitting in a luxury suite at the 72,000–seat NRG Stadium, alongside her parents, at the coveted World Cup match.
The final get–in price to watch that game was nearly $1,300, according to the Houston Chronicle.
The suite Guzman sat in for the game is maintained by the Harris County Sports and Convention Corporation and has hosted various Democratic officials from around the Houston area.
HCSCC owns, manages, operates and develops NRG Park, also known as NRG Stadium in Houston.
On Facebook, Guzman elatedly wrote that 'experiencing a World Cup game in Houston with my parents was a dream come true!'

'Enjoying these moments with them was priceless,' she added.
Guzman also lauded the NRG Stadium in her social media post, noting that the lighting and sound inside was 'stunning.'
The well-known anchor posted footage of her arriving at the stadium, posing with her mother and father inside, as well as clips of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Guzman and her parents were fully clad in red Portugal gear, flashing wide smiles as they enjoyed the game. She tagged KPRC in her post.
In addition to attending the World Cup game, Guzman was allegedly given four tickets to the Bruno Mars concert at the stadium about two months earlier, on April 22.
It did not appear that she had posted any clips of herself at the Mars concert. The median price to attend that show was $979, according to TicketNews.
The general manager of KPRC–TV, Sean McLaughlin, previously said that the station had opened an investigation into Guzman's alleged acceptance of the tickets.
'Our station takes journalistic ethics very seriously along with anything that could potentially create even the appearance of a conflict of interest,' McLaughlin said.

Other beneficiaries of the free tickets allegedly included Commissioner Lesley Briones, Erica Lee Carter, Ellis' chief of staff Brandon Dudley, Commissioner Rodney Ellis, HCSCC board appointee Elsa Flores, Commissioner Adrian Garcia, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, former Houston City Council member and Democratic Harris County judge nominee Letitia Plummer and Commissioner Tom Ramsey.
Of the group, most are Democrats except for Ramsey, who is a Republican.
Dudley was a political director for Barack Obama's 2008 campaign and a campaign manager for Democrat Wendy Davis' gubernatorial campaign in Texas.
Meanwhile, Flores is the president of the Texas branch of the Service Employees International Union, which represents thousands of airport workers, janitors and hospital employees, and has been recurrently involved in Democratic Party politics.
The allegations against Guzman were initially reported by The Texas Voice, an independent conservative newsletter that brands itself as an 'alternative to the liberal mainstream media.'

Guzman, who is from Houston, is a four–time Emmy Award-winning journalist. She anchors KPRC 2 News at 5pm, 6pm, and 10pm, according to her online bio.
Her Emmys came for her work in Los Angeles and Chicago, where she was a morning news anchor at KNBC and WMAQ, respectively.
In 2023, Guzman, who is also a mother of two, was listed among the top 30 most influential women in Texas.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Guzman for comment on her suspension.
