Power cut for thousands in Southern California as dangerous fire weather returns

Just over 27,500 customers in the county were affected by power safety shutoffs at 11 a.m. Monday, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services. Among the larger customers is Ventura College, which canceled classes for the day.
Edison said it also cut power for at least 30,000 other customers across Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Riverside, Orange and San Bernardino counties. More shutoffs are being considered for another 484,000 customers, including 90,000 in Ventura County, according to Edison.
