CV NEWS FEED // Multiple outlets reported Thursday that President Donald Trump will address the 52nd March for Life in Washington D.C. by video.
The day before the March, Trump pardoned 23 pro-life advocates prosecuted and convicted by the Biden administration’s Department of Justice on charges related to the controversial Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act – some of whom were serving long prison sentences.
As CatholicVote reported, “Many of the imprisoned were senior citizens, and a significant number were Catholic.”
Trump made history in 2020 when he became the first sitting president to attend and speak at the March in person. The 2020 March was, until Friday’s, the most recent to occur during Trump’s non-consecutive White House terms.
During Trump’s first term, he notably appointed three associate justices to fill vacancies in the Supreme Court. All three were part of the six-justice majority that ruled in the landmark case Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned Roe v. Wade in June 2022.
While the president will address marchers via video, Vice President JD Vance will attend the pre-march rally in person as one of its featured speakers, alongside the leaders of both houses of Congress: House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-LA, and Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-SD.
