The Prince and Princess of Wales enjoyed a charming day out on the Isle of Bute on Thursday, with one particularly amusing moment stealing the show during their first official visit to the Scottish island.
As the couple - who hold the titles Duke and Duchess of Rothesay north of the border - greeted crowds in their namesake town, Catherine became so engrossed in conversation with well-wishers that Prince William was forced to intervene.
"You've got to speed up," he quipped, tapping his watch. "You've got to get all the way down there before you go!"
The 44-year-old princess, clutching a bouquet of flowers, appeared to apologise to the crowd before promptly resuming her chats just a few steps further along the line.
Video footage captured William standing somewhat awkwardly behind his wife, grinning and chatting to a member of their team as Catherine carried on regardless, posing for selfies with yet another group of admirers.
The gathered crowd responded with cheers and applause, with one onlooker shouting from the back: "You two are f****** brilliant!"
It is hardly the first time the Princess of Wales has found herself trailing behind during a royal engagement. At a Christmas walkabout in 2024, she fell so far behind her husband and children that she remarked to onlookers: "I seem to have lost my family!"
William was reportedly spotted reaching for his phone, thought to be summoning a protection officer to usher her along.

The couple's visit to Bute Shinty Club provided further entertainment, as both tried their hand at the hockey-like sport played with a curved stick and a small, hard ball.
William's opening effort barely travelled a few inches, though he soon found his range to cheers from onlookers.
Catherine initially swung and missed entirely, but quickly improved, firing shots at the goalkeeper with increasing confidence.

She later joked with content creator Andy McAlindon, known as Andy the Highlander, who had been standing beside the goal: "I was a bit worried I was going to take your teeth out."
Former Bute shinty player Tom McMillan offered his verdict: "I think they did very well, Kate hit the ball better than William and she really got into it and was lining the balls up."
The couple subsequently took part in a beach litter pick, with William climbing into the cab of a tractor used in the clean-up effort while Catherine stood alongside.
Their final stop was the community-owned Anchor Tavern Pub and Hub in Port Bannatyne, a venture sustained by a substantial volunteer workforce.
William expressed admiration for the pub's operating model, which relies on local volunteers to remain financially sustainable, while Catherine called it something "special".
The visit to the island, reached by ferry from the mainland, was designed to celebrate Bute's strong tradition of community spirit and volunteering.
It formed part of a busy month for the couple, who also accompanied Prince George as he began his studies at Eton College.
