Pro-Palestinian activists and organizations have been largely silent after Hamas reportedly tortured Uday Al Rabbay, a 22-year-old Palestinian who was protesting Hamas rule in the Gaza Strip, to death.

The terrorist organization deposited the lifeless body of Al Rabbay in front of his family’s door as a warning to others, The Telegraph reported, citing high-ranking Palestinian police officer Mazen Shat. Hamas beat Rabbay for four hours, the Fatah-affiliated official from Ramallah told the outlet. Fatah is Hamas’ rival in the Palestinian territories.

“Uday was martyred by the criminals of Hamas,” Shat said. “And what’s his crime? He told the truth, because he refused to be silent on injustice, because he did not kneel to Hamas.” The dead protester’s swollen corpse reportedly showed open wounds and bruising.

Utter savages.

“Hamas is oppressing people in a brutal way,” Shat said. “Like a puppy on a rope around his neck, they dragged him to the door of his house and told his family that this is the punishment for those who complain about Hamas.”

Hamas’ military wing, the Al Qassam Brigades, seized Rabbay last Friday, his brother Hassan told CNN.

A number of Pro-Palestinian activists and organizations have been silent on Rabbay’s death. The Palestine Solidarity Campaign, a UK-based pro-Palestine organization, appears not to have addressed the issue. Pro-Palestinian accounts on X, including Syrian Girl and Kneecap, have also avoided the issue.

Multiple international officials working for organizations focused on Palestine have also seemingly failed to address Rabbay’s death. Francesca Albanese, UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian Territory, and Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, have yet to post about the reported killing or Hamas’ apparent crackdown on protesters on their X accounts.

The Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR), a Palestinian human rights institution, did confirm the young man’s death and demand an independent investigation into the matter. “The family stated that he bore severe signs of torture, was restrained by his neck and hands, and suffered from deep wounds, multiple burns, internal bleeding, severe neurological and circulatory shock, a ruptured heart nerve, and fractures in the skull, pelvis, and back,” ICHR said. Rare demonstrations against Hamas rule in the Gaza Strip broke out on March 25 with hundreds of Gazans took the streets in the largest demonstrations against the terrorist organization yet, according to multiple reports. “We refuse to die for anyone, for any party’s agenda or the interests of foreign states,” one protester said. “Hamas must step down and listen to the voice of the grieving, the voice that rises from beneath the rubble – it is the most truthful voice.”

Protesters appeared to call out media bias in footage. “No no to Al Jazeera. The people are the truth,” people appeared to chant, according to Real Clear World, citing a video from a self-described Palestinian human rights activist name Hamza.
