Goals are guaranteed as two of Europe’s best attacking teams tussle in Paris. We look ahead to Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League game with our PSG vs Barcelona prediction and preview.
PSG vs Barcelona: The Key Stats
- PSG are regarded as slight favourites by the Opta supercomputer, winning in 39.7% of the 10,000 pre-match simulations.
- Since 2024-25, the two teams whose games have seen the most UEFA Champions League goals have been Barcelona’s (130) and PSG’s (134).
- Of fixtures played 10+ times in European Cup/UEFA Champions League history, only Ajax versus Bayern Munich (3.9) has a higher goals-per-game ratio than PSG versus Barcelona (3.8 – 57 goals in 15 meetings).
The decision to modify the early rounds of the UEFA Champions League to a new, expanded Swiss model three seasons ago was not universally popular, but its habit of producing regular fixtures between Europe’s super clubs is no doubt creating a growing list of admirers.
For the second week running, back-to-back champions Paris Saint-Germain are facing one of their likeliest usurpers. They defeated Manchester City 4-2 at the Etihad Stadium on Matchday 2, producing a near-perfect opening 30 minutes that saw them open up a three-goal lead before the home fans had time to inflate their bananas.
They are now unbeaten in 12 Champions League games, one short of their record run in the competition. And despite a slow start to the season, they have won six games in a row in all competitions.
But on Matchday 3, their three-peat potential will be tested to the fullest as they play host to a Barcelona side who many would argue are currently Europe’s form team. Hansi Flick’s side have won all 11 games they have played this season, scoring a mammoth 48 goals in the process at an average of 4.4 per game. That is, of course, the most of any team from Europe’s top five divisions.

They put five past Feyenoord in the opening round of the league phase before scoring four times against Galatasaray last week. They have now scored at least four goals in four consecutive league/group phase games in this competition, the longest such run in European Cup or Champions League history.
It’s the arrival of Flick which has taken their attacking play to its current level, although their style does leave them susceptible in defence. Indeed, Flick has both the best goals-per-game ratio (3.0) and worst goals-conceded-per-game ratio (1.6) of any Barcelona manager to take charge of at least five games in the Champions League.
Barcelona’s games have seen 130 goals in the Champions League since Flick took over ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. The only team to be involved in games with more goals in that time? PSG, with 134 goals.
Both squads are stacked with attacking talent. Since the start of the 2024-25 season, nine players have averaged at least one goal involvement per 90 minutes in the Champions League, and five of them play for either PSG (Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia) or Barcelona (Raphinha, Fermín López).
And that list doesn’t even include Europe’s most prodigious talent, Lamine Yamal. The 19-year-old has already been involved in five goals in two Champions League appearances in 2026-27 (one goal, four assists), assisting two goals in each appearance. He is the youngest player to assist 2+ goals in consecutive appearances, while Raúl in 2002 is the only player in Champions League history to assist 2+ goals in three games in a row.
Of fixtures played at least 10 times in European Cup or Champions League history, only Ajax versus Bayern Munich (3.9) has a higher goals-per-game ratio than PSG versus Barcelona (3.8).
Goals are guaranteed.
PSG vs Barcelona Head-to-Head
This will be the 17th time PSG have faced Barcelona (W6 D4 L6), which will be the joint-most games they have played against an opponent in major European competition (also 17 v Bayern Munich – W7 D1 L9).
PSG have won their last two games against Barcelona, while only Bayern Munich have won three consecutive matches against them in the European Cup or Champions League (a run of six – May 2015 to October 2022).
PSG vs Barcelona Prediction

The game was drawn in 22.6% of simulations.
