Radiation levels in New York spike as mysterious drones terrorize the Northeast

Radiation levels have spiked in New York City, fueling conspiracy theories that the drones terrorizing the Northeast are searching for a missing nuclear warhead.

The emissions, clocked by GQ Electronics' Geiger Counter World Map, were detected near the Bronx and Upper West Side Wednesday.

The application shows a radiation reading of 1048 counts-per-minute (CPM), i.e. how many particles were detected, in the Bronx: higher than normal background radiation.

The average person is typically exposed to background radiation that measures around five to 60 CPM, though CPM varies with sensor devices, according to NASA.

And, on the the Upper West Side, the app's reading measured a still high 175 CPM.

Now, an attorney and long-time critic of China claims that the spikes are a clue that the northeast's mystery drones might be a secret US government effort to identify 'an implanted nuclear weapon' hidden somewhere in the city by America's enemies.

'This is not something which is just wild speculation,' that lawyer and author, Gordon G. Chang, told reporters Monday.

'For more than a decade,' Chang explained, 'US officials have been worried about the North Koreans taking apart a [nuclear] device, smuggling the parts into the United States and reassembling it in the location of their choice.'

'When you talk about radiation, clearly this could be one of the things that the drones are doing,' Chang told Forbes Newsroom, 'and that would explain why they're over residential areas because the device could be planted in one of those places'

Crucially, more current reports from the Geiger Counter World Map do not show the radiation spikes at this time.

Sure, since late November they’ve been searching by night drone only and haven’t discovered it. No one searching on the ground. 🙄

Put this together with the private drone ban in NJ and now we know why the noticeable increase in drones happened.

“No one searching on the ground.”

How do you know that? They might be driving around in vans with sniffers.

IMHO the higher radiation levels are from Dims still fuming over Trump 2.0 winning!

fueling conspiracy theories that the drones terrorizing the Northeast are searching for a missing nuclear warhead.

And there are still fools on FR who say: "Ukraine should have kept its nukes" when the Soviet Union collapsed.

They didn't own them or control the codes, and in a completely corrupt country like Ukraine, they would quickly be sold to anyone offering $millions.

Who knows, maybe one did escape...

No one searching on the ground.

There have been an unusual number of "training drills" in East coast areas by the Federal agencies during this past month. And there are more to come in the next two weeks. All part of "routinely scheduled operations".

I believe they are searching on the ground.

And they still haven't found what they're looking for.

We’d have social media a Twitter about all the vans driving around.

Except when you go to the GC World Map, they don’t have any data for the Bronx/Upper West Side.

The closest they have a count for the Bronx is Ft. Lee, NJ and it’s 13 CPM as of yesterday afternoon.

I have absolutely no idea where they’re getting their data from because it’s not on the website they say it is: https://www.gmcmap.com/

This is serious,,,

What radiation was involved enquiringly minds seek to know....?

1....Alfa particles

2....Electrons

3....Gamma radiation

It is important that they only look for the nuclear material at night though.

Likey a cancer patient with a surgically implanted polonium pellet walked or drive by a sensor. A family member had one and I took my Geiger counter over to check safe distance and it had a ‘Evacuate area and call the government’ reading.

Just looked. I see no such spike.

"The [GQ Electronics' Geiger Counter World Map] application shows a radiation reading of 1048 counts-per-minute (CPM), i.e. how many particles were detected, in the Bronx: higher than normal background radiation."

Typical Geiger counters detect gamma (and X-) rays, not particles. Thin-window Geiger–Müller tubes can detect alpha and beta particles, but for a limited distance (inches to feet).

And the linked article also states:

The Environmental Protection Agency notes that radiation emission rates like CPM do not always match absorption by the human body and even changes in weather, like rain, can lessen the risk, making CPM a challenging tool to assess true risk.

Me too.

I have no idea what these people are talking about. The closest place they’ve got data for is Ft. Lee, NJ across the Hudson.
