Reform UK has been warned of a potential “Frankenstein coalition” of left-wing parties joining forces to prevent Nigel Farage from winning power at the next General Election.

Speaking to Will Kingston, political commentator and comedian Paul Cox said that tactical voting could allow Labour, the Liberal Democrats, the Greens and the SNP to work together against Reform.

“We're at an interesting point in British political history,” Mr Cox said, arguing that the UK's “two to two and a half party system” had become a “five to five and a half party system.”

“Very potentially, very possibly, and very worryingly, if the Left coalesces together votes tactically, you could very easily see a Frankenstein coalition of the Lib Dems and Labour or the Lib Dems, the Greens and Labour, with the SNP in Scotland coming together to defeat a Reform party.”

Mr Cox said he was “genuinely concerned” by the prospect, claiming a former Lib Dem councillor he had spoken to was “more than happy for that coalition to exist.”

He argued the parties could put aside their ideological differences because they would “much rather be in a very dysfunctional family that could ruin the country than allow the Right to succeed in any way, shape or form.”

Mr Cox added that a successful Reform government could threaten the political establishment if it tackled issues such as immigration and welfare.

“If someone comes in and does something differently and solves those issues, their whole ideology is going to crumble overnight,” he said.
