Regé-Jean Page has sparked fresh speculation about a potential return to Netflix's hit series Bridgerton.

The 37-year-old actor, who played the Duke of Hastings in the show's debut season, gave a noncommittal response when asked about reprising his role during a recent interview.

Page was speaking whilst promoting his new spy thriller film Black Bag amid rumours he may make a return to the semi-historical drama.

When asked if he would consider returning to the show, Page told Entertainment Tonight: "I'm very happy to support everyone who's in the show.

"Everyone's finding fantastic success but with the show and personal projects, I'm just super happy to say that," he added.

While Page did not confirm a bid to return, his response has left the door ajar for a potential future appearance.

Page swooned fans as Simon Basset in the inaugural season of Bridgerton in 2020.

His romance with Daphne Bridgerton, played by Phoebe Dynevor, became one of the most-discussed aspects of the programme.

While Page previously dismissed any chance of returning to the show, his latest comments suggest he may be reconsidering.

In a previous interview with Vanity Fair, he explained his departure simply: "I signed up to do a job and I did the job and then I did some other jobs. That's it. That's the story."

Since, the 37-year-old has starred alongside Ryan Gosling in The Gray Man and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves with Chris Pine.

His latest outing is in Steven Soderbergh's spy thriller Black Bag alongside Michael Fassbender, Cate Blanchett, and former 007 Pierce Brosnan

However, Fassbender recently praised him as a Bond choice, glowing: "Well, I think Rege-Jean Page could be a frontrunner after this, to be honest."

"I think he’s fantastic. He’s got all the attributes. So, let’s wait and see," he told US Weekly.

Former Miss Moneypenny Naomie Harris, who also stars in Black Bag, said Page was be "amazing" as 007.

“I’d love Regé to be the next James Bond. But who knows? I don’t know what’s going to happen,” the actress added.
