Manchester City have reached out to Paul Pogba over a shock move to the Etihad Stadium, a report has claimed.
Pogba is currently a free agent after his contract with Juventus was terminated in November. The former Manchester United midfielder is currently serving a doping ban which was reduced from four years to 18 months and is due to lift in March.
As he looks to find himself a new home, The Independent state Pogba has been contacted by City over a surprise return to Manchester.
City are desperate to bolster in midfield, where Rodri's ongoing absence continues to cause significant issues, when the January transfer window arrives, and are looking at a whole hosts of possible targets.
Manager Pep Guardiola is a known admirer of Pogba and is said to see the 31-year-old as a possibly shrewd target, but the Frenchman is reluctant to return to Manchester after a turbulent six-year spell with United.
Indeed, it is thought Pogba has reservations about returning to the wider Premier League following his experiences in England's top flight.
A move to La Liga, the Bundesliga or Serie A is thought to appeal to Pogba, who has also been heavily linked with Ligue 1 giants Marseille.
