Resident Evil Requiem’s terrifying IRL maze lets you live Leon and Grace’s nightmare

Universal Studios Japan is opening a Resident Evil Requiem horror maze, and it sounds absolutely terrifying.

The world of Resident Evil Requiem is being brought to life with a new horror maze that recreates the game’s abandoned Renwood Hotel, throwing guests into a relentless fight for survival.

If walking around a highly detailed Resi set wasn’t scary enough, the theme park attraction is filled with zombies, grotesque creatures, and live-action sequences featuring the game’s very own Leon Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft.

Resident Evil Requiem comes to life at USJ

Just like the horror game, Resident Evil Requiem: The Dive attraction begins after FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft disappears while investigating a series of mysterious deaths at the abandoned Renwood Hotel on the outskirts of Raccoon City.

Guests enter the hotel in search of Grace before finding themselves trapped inside a nightmare filled with crumbling corridors, victims’ bodies, and creatures that attack from every direction.

USJ says the maze features unpredictable scares from 360 degrees, which it hopes will leave visitors with feelings of “suffocating tension” and the feeling that there’s nowhere to escape.

The set has faithfully recreated everything from the back alleys surrounding the hotel to its decaying interior, complete with rusted fire escapes, flickering streetlights, and collapsing brickwork.

There will also be live-action scenes featuring Leon Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft, with guests getting to see the dynamic duo battle the hotel’s horrors up close. However, time will soon tell whether Leon will make any classic quips to lighten the mood, or if you’ll be able to hold his hand if you get too frightened.

Resident Evil Requiem: The Dive will be open from September 11 through December 27 at Stage 18 in Universal Studios Japan.

While the new Resi-themed event is sure to get your heart pumping, it’s not the only creepy attraction that’s being held at USJ this year. In fact, to celebrate the park’s 25th anniversary, the theme park will be hosting its “most extreme horror experience” that’s so scary you need to sign a waiver.
