A couple who first met while playing League of Legends 12 years ago received a touching wedding gift from Riot Games.

For many League of Legends players, meeting their soulmate in solo queue sounds like the setup to a joke. For one couple, it became reality.

A translated X thread from ‘Ironelia’ has captured the hearts of League fans after she revealed that her sister and future brother-in-law first met through Riot’s MOBA nearly 12 years ago and recently received a personalized wedding gift from Riot Games to celebrate their marriage.

“My sister and her boyfriend met on League of Legends almost 12 years ago,” she wrote. “They’re getting married on Saturday.”

Wanting to do something special for the occasion, lronelia contacted Riot Support and asked if the company could provide a short message for the soon-to-be newlyweds.

What she got back was far more than she expected. The package included a custom wedding card addressed to the couple’s in-game usernames, featuring League’s iconic lovebirds Xayah and Rakan. Alongside a congratulatory message, Riot also created a custom keepsake commemorating where their relationship began.

“The gift is a box that contains a plaque with the Summoner’s Rift map,” lronelia revealed in a follow-up post. “Above it, there’s the mention ‘We met here’ and below, the date when they added each other as friends.”

However, it was a second surprise hidden inside the gift that resonated most with fans. Ironelia expected a standard corporate congratulations card, but multiple Riot employees contributed their own personal messages to the couple. One Riot employee wrote: “You turned a video game into a love story. That’s not something everyone can do.”

Another added, “From champion select to saying yes, what a journey. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness.”

“13 years ago, two players loaded into the same game and had no idea what was about to start,” a third read. “The meta has changed a hundred times since then. The patches kept coming. Champions rose and fell. And yet, here you both are.”

This isn’t the first time that weddings and video games have crossed over, as one couple went viral for inviting Sony to their big day and receiving free PlayStation games in return. Meanwhile, there are official Pokemon wedding rings that let fans propose using their favorite creatures.
