Rochester, N.Y.— People in Rochester's 19th Ward rallied Tuesday for the Good Cause Eviction law to be passed after they claim a tenant was served an "unjust eviction."
Lakeisha Ward claims she was served an eviction notice after raising concerns about the property and taking the issues to the city.

Ward said she's not behind on rent and kept up her rent.
Torres Turn Key Property Management LLC said Ward was issued a notice to vacate because the owner has different plans for the property.
"I have emails saying this isn't personal, it's business," Ward explained. "My children and I are being told that we had 60 days to move out, and in those 60 days, we can't find anything that is either safe housing for us or reasonable housing costs for us."
"We'll give her an amazing landlord reference, because she has been a good tenant," said Daniel Torres, co-owner of Torres Turn Key Property Management. "She's kept the property up to speed. We don't have any issues with her on that side, and we don't have any issues for her calling for repairs if there's a need for one."
Ward is still in the house and wants to buy— if the owner is willing to sell it.
The property management company and Ward are set to appear in court Oct. 10 for her holdover eviction case.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
UPDATE: City council pushed the vote into December which has enraged bad tenants. "Good Cause" Eviction just encourages bad behavior/squatters/professional tenants and drives good tenants away.

So much for the owner’s property rights. A quaint, old-fashioned notion.
