The modders behind an unofficial Nintendo Switch port of GTA 5 are shutting down their group after reported legal action from Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive.

GTA 5 never received an official Nintendo Switch release, but a team called Paralympics Productions managed to bring Los Santos to the original console themselves.

The project attracted attention for running the game directly on Nintendo’s hardware. However, it reportedly used leaked GTA 5 source code, and its developer has now announced the group’s closure.

On September 28, the mod’s lead revealed Rockstar had taken legal action against the team.

GTA 5 Switch port developer announces shutdown

In a post on X, developer M0jso said Paralympics Productions would shut down on October 3, thanking supporters and apologizing for leaving their expectations unfulfilled.

“I am thankful for Take-Two’s mercy, so this is the definitive end,” they wrote.

Paralympics Productions is shutting down on October 3rd. Thank you everyone who supported us through tough times and lenghty development. I am sorry for not fulfilling your expectations and leaving you high and dry. I am thankful for take two's mercy so this is the definitive end

The developer also pushed back when another user suggested Take-Two would lose if the dispute reached court.

“I wouldn’t win in court most likely,” M0jso replied, saying the company had solid grounds and that their own behavior would undermine any argument that they did not understand what they were getting into.

i wouldn't win in court most likely. they have solid grounds and with me being cocky it shows real intent for "mayhem" so i can't even appeal to a jury or something like i didn't know what i was getting into.

As VideoCardz reported earlier in September, the port ran natively on the Switch’s operating system, without relying on streaming, Android or Linux.

It required a modified console, with performance reportedly ranging from around 10 to 25 frames per second without overclocking. An overclocked Switch OLED could reach roughly 30fps in less demanding scenes, although busier areas caused further drops.

The shutdown follows several other high-profile clashes involving GTA fan projects. In January 2025, the creators of the Liberty City Preservation Project took their GTA 5 mod offline after speaking with Rockstar.

In 2023, Take-Two also issued takedowns against Sentient Streets, an AI-powered GTA 5 mod that let players speak to NPCs through their microphones.

The publisher previously went further with the developers behind reverse-engineered versions of GTA 3 and Vice City, filing a lawsuit in 2021 before settling the case in 2023.

Meanwhile, the odds are looking slim for Rockstar’s upcoming GTA 6 to arrive on Switch 2. A former dev said that porting GTA VI to Switch 2 “wouldn’t make sense” and warned that it would be a “subpar experience” on the Nintendo console.
