President Donald Trump is delivering exactly the kind of 250th anniversary celebration that millions of Americans wanted: bold and unapologetic events rooted in the traditions and values that built this country.
After Trump announced that he would give a rally speech to replace the multiple artists who had dropped out of the America 250 celebration, a growing discontent formed among Americans (myself included) who wished for something greater. Thankfully, it seems the administration has heard our cries and unveiled plans that will showcase Americana in a way that highlights our beautiful past and offers hope for the future.
The Trump administration, working through the Freedom 250 initiative, laid out a packed schedule of events that put real American culture front and center. While not a part of the official kick-off event scheduled for June 24, Americans have already seen motocross stunts performed in front of the White House, and the UFC 250 fight card produced on the White House lawn, complete with military flyovers, country music, and massive fireworks.

Trump announced on Truth Social that June 24 will mark the start of the official celebrations for America’s historic birthday.
“Wednesday, June 24th, will be the ‘kick off’ of our summer long Celebration of 250 Years of American Independence! Come and enjoy a night filled with beautiful music from our talented U.S. Army and Marine Corps Military Bands (ONLY THE HITS THAT YOU KNOW AND LOVE!), the highly gifted Christopher Macchio, and our friend, Lee Greenwood, performing the Greatest Hit of All Time, GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.,” Trump said.
“You will also bear witness to impressive Military flyovers featuring precision Fighter Jets and Stealth Bombers, which will be flown by our U.S. Military Pilots, who have proven to be the most Elite Pilots anywhere in the World. This Patriotic Tribute will take place on the Main Stage at the Freedom 250 Great American State Fair located on our Majestic National Mall, in what is now one of the safest Cities in the World, Washington D.C., which we are beautifying to levels never seen before. See you at 7 P.M. EST on Wednesday, June 24th. We are going to have fun, and celebrate America!” Trump added.
One of the standout announcements is Rodeo 250, starting June 25. This event will tell the full story of “The Evolution of the American Cowboy,” including its Spanish vaquero roots, cattle drives, Wild West shows, charros, trick riding, Roman riding, trick roping, and today’s professional rodeo circuit, according to Freedom 250. The best part is that it will be produced right on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., by the legendary Cervi Championship Rodeo.

The broader Great American State Fair ties it all together. The National Mall will turn into a giant state fair with exhibits from almost all 56 states and territories, carnival rides, livestock shows, food, and family activities.
When the announcement came that some of the original performers dropped out, Americans were rightly concerned that the administration’s “back-up” plan was a Trump rally. But now we know that the administration plans to showcase military bands from the Army, the Marine Corps, and other services, which puts our talented service members on display rather than out-of-touch celebrities. The reality is that the left was always going to boycott or criticize anything built under Trump’s leadership. Predictable outrage and performer withdrawals were going to happen no matter what the events looked like. By leaning hard into red-state patriotism instead of chasing leftist approval, the administration ensures that everyday Americans have something real to be proud of supporting.
If some states and celebrities don’t want to be a part of celebrating America’s 250th, fine, just skip them; they were never going to show up anyway. The administration should keep doubling down on the heartland values and traditional American strengths that actually unite the majority of citizens who love this country. Trump has repeatedly said that these events will honor the American spirit and our nation’s triumphs as the country heads into the next 250 years. And he’s delivering on his promise by providing the kind of celebration that families will talk about for decades.
