A rookie New York City police officer is suspected of fatally shooting his brother in the eye.
The 24-year-old man was found dead around 1.32am early Saturday in upper Manhattan at an apartment building near Fredrick Douglass Boulevard and Macombs Place.
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) told the Daily Mail on Saturday afternoon that the victim was discovered by police officers after 911 was called.
When law enforcement arrived at the Harlem apartment, they discovered a 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his right eye.
He was subsequently declared dead on the scene, according to police.
The victim's identity has not been disclosed by law enforcement.
His death is being investigated by the NYPD's Force Investigation Division, which probes shootings involving police officers.
Police are currently probing whether the rookie officer could have accidentally fatally shot his brother or if the victim shot himself, according to the New York Post.

A black body bag was stretchered out after the shooting by officials from New York City's chief medical examiner's office
So far, no arrests have been made as the investigation into the 24-year-old's overnight death continues.
Officials wearing New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) hats were seen carrying out a black body bag on a green stretcher after the shooting.
The body was then loaded into a black van to be taken away, pictures showed.
Emergency Medical Services were the ones who declared the victim to be dead on scene, according to the NYPD.
NYPD officers from the crime scene unit were also at the scene, with one investigator carrying a small box labeled, 'Evidence - Handle With Care.'
Large paper bags were also carried out of the apartment by law enforcement authorities early Saturday.
Videos captured by bystanders showed that a large group of people had gathered outside as authorities responded to the scene.
As the incident is investigated by law enforcement, no arrests have been made in connection to the fatal shooting

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene by Emergency Medical Services, according to the NYPD
The NYPD Force Investigations Division is attempting to determine if the rookie officer was involved in the shooting or if he pulled the trigger, the New York Daily News reported.
It was not immediately known how exactly the shooting happened.
Police had said that the identity of the victim was being withheld 'pending proper family notification.'
The New York City chief medical examiner's office told the Daily Mail on Saturday afternoon that it had no additional information about the death at this time.
