Rosie O’Donnell revealed her late “Nip/Tuck” co-star Julian McMahon told her she had a “nice rack” while they were shooting an intimate scene for the medical drama.
“He was such a gentleman,” O’Donnell prefaced of the actor while recounting the awkward moment on the “Good Hang” podcast Tuesday.
She also revealed that it was the first sex scene she had ever done in her career.
“I had a tube top on and little underpants and I’m supposed to be naked. And he’s got a little c—k sock, and he’s leaning and his arms are shaking because he doesn’t want to put his body on mine.”
The comedian recounted production telling her she would have to take off the tube top because it was showing up in the frame — which she was dreading because McMahon was so “gorgeous.”
“And I looked at him and he’s this gorgeous — God rest his soul — Greek statue of a man. He’s a Kennedy in my mind. He was just so perfect.”
O’Donnell continued, “And so I pull down my tube top, and I say, ‘Julian those are my boobs.’ And he said, ‘Nice rack.’ And I said, ‘Really?’ and he said, ‘Yes.'”
McMahon’s role as Dr. Christian Troy on Ryan Murphy’s FX series “Nip/Tuck” made him a household name in Hollywood.
As for O’Donnell, she played recurring character Dawn Budge in the fourth and fifth seasons of the show. Dawn has a one-night stand with Dr. Troy in Season 4.
McMahon died in July 2025 following a private battle with cancer. He was 56.
Julian’s wife, Kelly McMahon, confirmed the actor died “peacefully” on July 2 after a “valiant effort to overcome” his illness.
“Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible,” she shared in a statement at the time.
