Conservative commentator Jack Barwell has urged suspended Reform UK MP Rupert Lowe to join the Conservative Party.

Speaking to GB News, Barwell suggested Lowe should "join a properly right wing party" after his recent suspension from Reform UK.

"I'm keeping my options open," Lowe told Sky News when asked about his political future.

The MP acknowledged his previous Conservative membership, stating: "I was a Tory years ago. I think the Tories have got a lot of work to do."

He later added: "I urge him to join a properly right wing party. I think the best route for him is to have an honest conversation with conservatives who want to work out what the future of right wing politics is.

"I don't know whether he thinks he could comply with everything the Conservatives stand for, because it is a democracy as a party, and you have to get behind whatever that manifesto is going to be.

"I certainly think Nigel Farage is not the place for him, because he's made it clear he believes in deporting former foreign criminals. And it seems Nigel Farage hasn't made his mind up on that yet."

Lowe has maintained contact with other former Reform figures, including ex-deputy leader Ben Habib, who The Daily Telegraph reported is "constantly in touch with" him.

This has fuelled speculation about potential new political alliances.

Lowe's suspension follows a Metropolitan Police investigation into allegations he made "verbal threats" against Reform UK chairman Zia Yusuf.

Scotland Yard confirmed they are investigating "a series of alleged threats made between December 2024 and February 2025".

Reform UK reported Lowe to police on March 6 regarding an incident from December last year.

Lowe has denied any wrongdoing, stating: "I remain unaware of the specific allegations, but in any event, I deny any wrongdoing. The allegations are entirely untrue."

He has instructed lawyers who have contacted the Met Police to express his willingness to cooperate with any investigation.

Conservative shadow home secretary Chris Philp has indicated the party would welcome Lowe.

"He hasn't applied but obviously we're a broad and welcoming political party," Philp told Times Radio.
