CV NEWS FEED // The Russian government this week warned that it would respond to Ukraine’s use of American-made missiles, okayed late last week by the Biden-Harris administration, in the ongoing deadly war between the two Eastern European nations.
“Russia has said that Ukraine’s use of long-range ATACMS missiles against its territory marked a ‘new phase of the Western war’ against Moscow, and has said it will react ‘accordingly,’” Al Jazeera reported on Tuesday.
“Ukraine used the US-made missiles to target a military facility in Russia’s Bryansk border region overnight, Moscow said,” Al Jazeera added, “just days after Washington gave the green light for Kyiv to use the long-range weapons against Russian targets.”
On Sunday, The New York Times reported that President Joe Biden “has authorized the first use of U.S.-supplied long-range missiles by Ukraine for strikes inside Russia.”
“Mr. Biden’s decision is a major change in U.S. policy,” the Times had then noted. “The choice has divided his advisers, and his shift comes two months before President-elect Donald J. Trump takes office.”

Conservative political commentator Greg Price criticized the Biden-Harris administration’s escalation of the war.
“Two weeks ago, Americans chose peace by voting for a President who would end the war in Ukraine,” Price wrote on X (formerly Twitter) Tuesday morning. “How did the Biden admin respond? Authorizing Ukraine to strike Russia with weapons made in the US, knowing full well it would lead to nuclear threats.”
While mounting his successful campaign for a second non-consecutive term, Trump repeatedly stressed the importance of a peaceful resolution to the Russo-Ukrainian war – a sharp departure from the Biden-Harris administration’s foreign policy.
Back in September, Trump privately met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in New York City. Both leaders exited the meeting agreeing on the necessity for peace in Eastern Europe.
CatholicVote reported at the time:
“We need just peace,” Zelenskyy said, standing side by side with Trump. “It’s so important to have just peace for the people, especially for the families who … lost their children. It’s a big tragedy.”
A reporter asked Trump if he has changed his “thoughts on how this war should end, what you think should be done?”
“Well, I learned a lot,” Trump answered. “But I think I haven’t changed from the standpoint that we both want to see this end, and we both want to see a fair deal made, and it’s got to be fair.”
