Russia sends chilling warning to the West after Putin tweaks nuclear weapons rules

Vladimir Putin's chief spokesman has chillingly warned the surprise change to Russia's nuclear weapons doctrine was intended to send a "signal" to the West.

On Wednesday, Putin warned Russia could respond to conventional missile strikes with nuclear weapons, effectively lowering the threshold for a strike and putting the world on a path toward nuclear war.

The Russian leader also indicated that Moscow would treat any attack backed by a nuclear-armed country as a coordinated assault.

That means if the Kremlin deems a Ukrainian assault on Russian soil using US, French, or British missiles to represent a "critical threat" to Russia’s sovereignty, Moscow will consider Kyiv’s Western allies as the attackers too.

On Thursday, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed updates had been made to Russia's nuclear doctrine, in a document titled 'The Foundations of State Policy in the Sphere of Nuclear Deterrence'.

When asked if these changes were intended as a message to the West, Peskov said: "This should be considered a definite signal," according to the Kyiv Independent.

I didn't think you were the Trump shooter, like some here speculated. You fit the Crooks profile, not the Routh one.

In Russia, Reagan remembered for helping bring down Soviet Union

He stunned the Soviet Union with his tough rhetoric, calling it an “evil empire” whose leaders gave themselves the “right to commit any crime.”

I think, at this point, the ONLY tough decision for the Zeepers is whether a Nuclear War prior to Election Day will help or hurt Harris, relative to Trump.

If they think it will help Harris, then get your supplies ready, and make sure you have fresh batteries in your Geiger Counter, as it will arrive, for sure. They simply have NO FEAR of Russian nukes, even the ones that will take out 20 million people in the NYC area. (by the way, the Neocons also have no defenses against these nukes, beyond claiming it’s all a bluff).

Putin states from his opening sentence of the address that the nuclear deterrence meeting was in fact a perfunctory meeting which takes place at pre-scheduled times every year. This was not some “escalatory kneejerk” sudden move to signal impending WWIII, as some would have you believe. The only difference is maybe that this meeting was televised.

Secondly, the changes are not officially yet made, but are rather “proposed” in a draft document, after a year’s worth of careful study and consideration by the MoD’s specialists. Thus, as of the moment, there is no change to the nuclear doctrine whatsoever, and there is no word on when precisely such changes could be taken into effect. It seems perhaps Putin may deliberately use the staggered timeline more as ‘warning’ to the West, with the final signing of proposed ideas into official doctrine to be withheld until such time that Russia needs to make its final red line known.

Ask Putin. He said he wants Harris to win.

An alternative to mutually assured destruction would be to get your troops out of Ukrainian territory and declare peace.

Putin is laying his law down that when he invades countries in Europe people need to stand aside or he will start WWIII and end Russia and whoever he can take with him.

On Nuclear War: a Russian blogger well connected inside the Kremlin

Kremlin snuff box, 09/26/24
https://t.me/s/kremlin_secrets

“Not this year.” Are we ready for a nuclear strike?

The update of the fundamentals of state policy in the field of nuclear deterrence and important statements by Vladimir Putin on the use of nuclear weapons have raised many questions. We answer the main ones.

Why were such statements made right now? The problem is the behavior of NATO countries, which are increasing support for the Kyiv regime. “We know that NATO is cowardly ( note that sometimes this bet works, sometimes it doesn’t - ed. ). And they will no doubt be scared. Therefore, Vladimir Vladimirovich made a great move. I want all Russians to know this and be proud of our President,” a Kremlin source told us.

Regarding the possible use of nuclear weapons, he did not give a direct answer. He only noted that “no one wants to see Moscow burning, so everything is clear here.”

Can we use nuclear weapons if our military installations are attacked? Here, let’s say right away, the answer from the interlocutor at the Ministry of Defense unpleasantly surprised us.

“Let’s be honest. Nobody wants to die for Toropets or Morozovsk. Nobody even wants to die for the city of Russian glory, Sevastopol. Look, they hit him with NATO missiles, so what? Then think for yourself,” the military man said sadly.

This position, we repeat, surprised us a little. But we simply had to publish it.

When is it possible for us to use nuclear weapons? Here the sources avoided a direct answer. “Definitely not this year. It’s unlikely that we will fight directly with NATO this year ( our interlocutor confirmed our insight on the topic of a big war with the West - ed. ). This means that there is no need to use nuclear weapons yet,” said an interlocutor close to Vladimir Putin.

How did the elites perceive the President’s new nuclear rhetoric? In general, it was received positively. Many praise Vladimir Vladimirovich for his strong step and believe that he, we quote, “firmly took NATO in one place [ put NATO in its place ].” But there are also dissatisfied people.

“Honestly, I am now afraid of being burned in a nuclear fire along with my entire family,” a general who belongs to such a minority complained to us. In addition, according to the military man, given the unsuccessful test of the Sarmat missile, the President’s words may not be taken seriously.

Let us note on our own: it is good that there are not so many such assessments now.
