TODAY’S PICK — ART IN LUZ
Pinacoteca de São Paulo, open today
The Pinacoteca in Luz is the city’s oldest art museum and it is open today from 10am to 6pm. Entry costs R$40, about US$7.81, and last entry is at 5pm.
Take the Metrô to Luz station. The museum is a short walk from the station on Praça da Luz, and the neighbourhood is busy on a Monday morning.
Spend the morning in the nineteenth-century galleries and the modern wing. The museum is less crowded on weekdays, which gives you space to actually stop and look.
Afterwards, cross the street to Parque da Luz for a short walk among the old trees and sculptures. The park is small but calm, and ideal before lunch.
Keep your ticket stub if you plan to return later in the week. The museum is closed on Tuesdays, so today is the right day to go.
OUTDOORS — THE PARK ROUTE
Parque Ibirapuera, open from 5am
Ibirapuera Park in Vila Mariana opens at 5am, with most gates closing at 11pm and free entry all day. The morning rain should ease enough for a walk on the main paths.
