A Hong Kong police senior superintendent has been suspended from duty after being arrested for indecent assault, the Post has learned.
The 49-year-old officer was arrested in Yuen Long on Tuesday. He was later released on bail and must report back next month, a police spokesman said on Wednesday, without providing details.
The officer had been suspended from duty, the spokesman said.
The Hong Kong Island regional crime unit is investigating.
The Post learned that the suspect was Ian Chow Ngai-kong from the force’s support wing. He works at the police headquarters in Wan Chai.
The spokesman said the force attached great importance to the conduct of its personnel. Any illegal behaviour would not be tolerated and it would be dealt with strictly, he added.
