Serial pooper wreaks havoc on rich California neighborhood: ‘Every morning’

A serial pooper is on the loose in Los Angeles’ Brentwood.

Video shows the woman openly squatting on a grass sidewalk at the corner of Goshen and Barrington Avenues, as aghast walkers stroll by. She’s also seen wiping.

Traumatized residents told Fox 11 the woman has been using the neighborhood as her personal toilet for years, with one resident saying they see it “every morning.”

And they say her behavior is getting worse.

Scared mom Wendy Kush said she was walking with her young daughter and dogs when she spotted the woman. Kush said she “started yelling she was gonna kill me, lunging at me.”

“I couldn’t get the lab to move because she was moving really slow. Luckily, I finally just started running and the dogs followed me, but it was really scary,” Kush said.

She posted about the horrifying experience online, and other residents in the area said they had similar experiences and contacted the police along with local representatives.

“I remember saying something to my neighbor who said, ‘Oh yeah, she does that every morning,’ which I thought was kind of insane,” Kush said.

“It’s disgusting, but it’s more of the same,” another resident said.

The mother tried to get the pooping woman help because she felt sorry for her. After a help group took 6 months to find her, she refused any assistance.

“They finally found her, and I thought something great would happen. She’d get some help. And they said she refused services, and they couldn’t do anything more about it,” Kush said.

Another resident said the agencies they’ve contacted want to help but can’t unless an “actual violent act” is committed.

“They’re all very compassionate. They wanna help, but their hands are tied is what we’re constantly told. We’re also told that they really can’t do anything unless there’s an actual violent act,” Brentwood resident Laurie Sideman said.

Kush said the area has a lot of “mentally ill homeless people that we have compassion for, but they need treatment.”

Residents feel it’s unfair that they are held to a higher standard.

“So basically, if someone poops right here, it’s fine. But if I throw something out of my car, I get a ticket,” Brentwood resident Shawn Shayan said.

Mayor Karen Bass’ office has alerted the County Emergency Centralized Response Center to respond with its mental health outreach team. The city relies on the county for mental health services.

City councilwoman Traci Parks said the pooping woman is emblematic of the city’s mental health crisis.

 “This is a prime example of the ongoing mental health crisis on our streets. We desperately need the County Mental Health Department’s assistance in getting this patient off the streets and into the supervised care they need,” she said.
