A Canadian woman has been accused of stomping animals to death for freakish fetish videos that she and her boyfriend allegedly sold on the dark web.
Irene Lima and Chad Kabecz, who lived together in the Manitoba province, were arrested in October and each charged with four animal cruelty-related offenses after a local veterinarian got a tip about videos depicting animal torture.
That tip led police to the couple's home in Winnipeg, where they seized several devices that had hundreds of videos and photographs, and tens of thousands of encrypted communications between Lima, 55, and Kabecz, 40.
Winnipeg police said more than 75 animals were filmed being tortured and killed between May 20 and October 7 of this year. They said some of the videos had a 'sexual component' to them.
Crown attorney Sean Sass claimed that Kabecz and Lima - who allegedly went by 'Goddess May' online - owned an operated a website that hosted videos of Lima crushing animals, including kittens and cats, with her bare feet.
According to Sass, this website, only available on the dark web, was called 'Goddess May Barefoot Premium Crush.'
'These are not quick kills,' Sass told provincial court Judge David Ireland at an October hearing. 'As the time-stamps seem to indicate, some of these videos are five minutes long. They're staged, premeditated torturing that result in the death of very vulnerable animals.'
After investigators analyzed the contents of the couple's devices, Lima and Kabecz were also found to be in possession of child pornography and had expressed intent to torture a child, police said.
Irene Lima and Chad Kabecz were accused of running a site on the dark web that featured videos of Lima stomping and killing defenseless animals with her bare feet. They have been arrested and charged
As such, they were arrested again on November 26 and charged with more serious crimes.
Both of them now face four counts of bestiality, six counts of killing or injuring animals and six counts of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. That's on top of charges for possessing and making child porn with the intent to distribute it.
Police said Kabecz created 'an exclusive underground black-market network' for animal torture where 'prospective members were required to submit a video of themselves killing an animal to gain entry.'
This could be why Kabecz, and not Lima, was charged with four counts of compelling bestiality.
A court hearing in October revealed that when police searched the couple's home they seized a cat carrier, Lima's diary and a blue Tupperware bin that was allegedly seen in the crushing videos, CBC reported. Investigators said there were cats in the bin.
Last week, Lima was denied bail while Kabecz also remains in custody.
Lima's lawyer, Mike Cook, was disappointed that his client was denied bail and told reporters outside the courthouse that he believes this case will go to trial.
The court also heard about the person who tipped off the authorities about the dark website. The tipster allegedly communicated with someone police believe was Kabecz on Reddit.
Kabecz allegedly wrote a description on the dark web site explaining that Lima has been sexually aroused by the act of crushing animals 'since she was a little girl'
Police said the tipster got instructions from the Reddit user on where to find the animal torture videos and how to pay for them. They then took screenshots of the conversation and sent them to police, Sass said.
The homepage of the website was said to feature 'an extremely graphic image that appears to be of a bare foot on top of some animal,' Sass said.
Some of the posts on the website allegedly authored by Kabecz also described Lima's long history of torturing animals.
'May is 55 and has been crushing since she was a little girl, and does it for her own satisfaction and pleasure,' the site said.
'She crushes barefoot because that's what she enjoys, as it brings her extreme satisfaction even to the point of orgasm without being touched. She's one in a million.'
