Coach Kyle Shanahan announced the San Francisco 49ers were promoting assistant coach Klay Kubiak to offensive coordinator. According to one report, this decision may have violated NFL rules.

The NFL requires teams to conduct an open search for offensive coordinator positions. There is no indication that the 49ers followed this protocol, meaning the team may now be obligated to comply with the requirement.

It's getting stupid .The NFL wants blacks interviewed. Fine. The niners got 2 3rd round compensatory picks when their minority folk moved on to different teams. Nothing to explain unless you're the DEI enforcers.
